Essential Info
The system consists of a central unit, which is very similar to a TiVo box, connected to a TV or monitor, and the Internet, either wired or wireless. The system provides a continuous display of news, weather, pictures, email, reminders etc. to the loved one's TV or monitor.
At the same time, the unit listens to a wide range of wireless sensors, which monitor activities of daily living and wellness.
The system can then be accessed via the Internet by remote family or professional caregivers to assess the wellness and safety of the loved one. The system can be instructed to send an email, text message, or phone call to the caregivers if something is amiss, say the temperature in the house falls below a certain level. The caregivers can also use the web interface to send pictures, email, reminders to the loved one's TV.
How it works
The GrandCare system connects to any television set with audio/video inputs and any fulltime Internet Connection. The GrandCare sensors are discreetly placed around the residence and report sensor activity to the system.
Caregivers can view the data on-line and set up conditions to receive automated alerts via email, text messages or phone calls.
Family can send communications & cognitive assists right to a dedicated channel on their loved one's television set.

Sensors Supported
The GrandCare system supports standard protocols which means that the list of supported sensors will continue to grow. Depending on the situation, we will provide sensors based on wireless X10, Bluetooth, Zwave, or Zigbee standards. You can always start small and add new sensors as the situation requires.
• Motion
Motion can tell a lot about daily activities. Monitor movement throughout the home, bedside, medications, fridge, bathroom etc. The system can detect excessive wandering.
• Door
Be alerted if door opens at wrong time, or the door isn't opened
• Action Button
Perform assigned action when the button is pressed - make a phone call, restart Communication slideshow on TV, I'm OK button, etc.

Send alerts if a person does not go to bed, or doesn't get out of chair.
